The Art of Self Care

Introduction

Self-Care is care provided “for you, by you”. We commonly think of Self-Care as taking time off to de-stress, rest or doing activities that we enjoy and help us relax. While all these are important, good self-care starts from within.

In this two-day workshop, participants will learn about the Satir Model to help gain greater self-awareness for better self-care. The Satir Model, founded by Virginia Satir (1916-1988), is based on a foundational belief that all human beings have a life force and are capable of continued growth and change. It helps us to be in touch with our innate resiliency and life energy. It helps us become aware of our own feelings, beliefs, expectations, behaviors and coping methods.

With on-going self-awareness and active self-assessment, we are empowered to make better choices in our everyday life. We can interact with others in a more positive ways. We give ourselves the liberty to live a balanced life.

Taking good care of self can also help us manage stress better and avoid burnout. This would eventually lead to improve productivity in work place, and for the ultimate benefit and welfare of those we help.
