Attuning to the Child’s World

Every child is unique with different personalities, temperaments, strengths, and interests. When significant adults in their lives attune to their uniqueness - becoming aware of a child’s needs and respond in a way that communicates safety and respect – deep emotional connections are established, paving the way for future secure relationships.

This two-day workshop explores the optimal conditions of creating an attuned and nurturing environment to support children’s developing sense of self.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

1. Learn how to create an attuned and nurturing environment

2. Understand how children use play as symbols and metaphors for communication

3. Develop skills to attune to a child through play and creative media

  • Creating an attuned environment
  • Becoming an attuned adult: Relating and active listening.
  • Meaning behind the behaviour and symbolic communication
  • Activities to engage children to enhance self-awareness, self expression and self confidence

Through small group discussions and experiential activities, participants will have opportunities to deepen their understanding and application of knowledge.
