WSQ - Practical Counselling Basic

COURSE OBJECTIVE

This programme aims to equip trainees with practical approaches in counselling individuals. The programme will be conducted in an interactive learning format to give trainees a better understanding of counselling, develop greater self awareness and enhance their personal qualities as effective people helpers in the work-place as well as in the community.

  • Examine the qualities of an effective helper
  • Apply communication methods in counselling
  • Apply empathetic listening and effective questioning techniques
  • Apply problem-solving approach in counselling

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is targeted at workers who worked with people such as human resource staff, supervisors, managers new entrants to social work, social workers, para-counsellors, policemen and other social service practitioners in a range of sectors (i.e. hospitals, schools, religious organisations, etc).  

 

This course is also suitable for the general public with little or no background of counselling but who are interested to become effective people-helpers to those in distress and need support. 

 

MODE OF DELIVERY

Combination of interactive lecture, video, group exercise and discussion, and role-play experiential practice.  The course will be conducted in a classroom setting.

Trainees who meet 75% class attendance and achieve “Competent” for all assessments will be issued a Statement of Attainment awarded by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).

  1. SSG Funding is subjected to SSG's terms and conditions, and approval.
  2. Should the trainee not able to meet the eligibility criteria, fulfill attendance and assessment requirements as required by SSG and AHD, the trainee will be liable to pay the full course fee of $690.00.
