Intermediate Training in Gestalt Play Therapy

In the clinical practice, there is a compelling need to organize the information gleaned from the therapeutic process to provide relevant insights and support for our clients.
 
This Intermediate Training is the second core skills training in Gestalt Play Therapy, designed for those who have completed the Basic Training in Gestalt Therapy.

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

This 4-day workshop (26 hours) will build on theoretical, skill development and clinical practice from the Gestalt approach with emphasis on developing robust assessment, diagnosis and plans. Balancing didactic discussion, experiential practicum with feedback, and case presentations, participants will learn key concepts and skills that will enhance their therapeutic practice with their clients.

At the end of the training, you will:

• Understand the principles of Gestalt Therapy and how it is adapted for use in the Oaklander Model
• Learn to frame observations and formulations in the Gestalt framework
• Develop a clinical formulation based on the Oaklander Model of Gestalt Therapy
• Practice making assessments and treatment plans using case studies given

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Practitioners working with children and adolescents in the field of health and mental health (such as psychiatry, psychology, psychiatric nursing, special needs, medical doctors), helping professions (such as social work, counseling) and related fields (such childcare/student care setting, physical therapy, art therapy, or other related fields).

PREREQUISITE

Those who have completed the Basic Training in Gestalt Play Therapy (28 hours) or 

Fundamentals of Gestalt Play Therapy (14 hours) AND Gestalt Play Therapy - Oaklander Approach (14 hours)

AWARD

This workshop is accredited with:

West Coast Institute (http://westcoastinstitute.us/) and the training hours will be counted towards certification as a Certified Gestalt Therapist with Children and Adolescents with WCI. For more information, please go to http://westcoastinstitute.us/certification/

Associate of Play Therapy (Singapore) (https://www.apts.org.sg/) and the training hours will be counted towards membership application and renewal. 

TRAINER

Lee Sock Kuan spent years working with children, adolescents and their families. Besides counselling and psychology, she received specialized training in Gestalt Play Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Play Therapy, Sandplay Therapy, art facilitation and Emotional-Focused Therapy.

As the first certified Gestalt Therapist with Children and Adolescents (West Coast Institute) in the SE Asia region, Sock Kuan is excited to further her work with children and their families on coping with stress, attachment, challenging behaviours and loss issues in the Gestalt approach. Sock Kuan is also the approved WCI trainer and supervisor for candidates in the WCI Certification Programme.

Sock Kuan also trains and supervises therapists, psychologists and social workers. She is a registered Clinical Member and Clinical Supervisor of the Singapore Association for Counselling. Besides being certified with West Coast Institute, she is also a Certified Practitioner in Therapeutic Play Skills with Play Therapy International.
